Dangerous Conversations With God That Break Pride, Expose Hidden Issues, And Unlock Real Breakthrough

If You Dare To Pray These, Your Life Cannot Remain The Same

Let me ask you something honest.

You pray, right?

Maybe every day.

Maybe multiple times a day.

You bind, you loose, you declare, you decree.

You cover your family.

You plead the blood.

You quote scriptures.

Those are real, valid, powerful prayers.

But yet, something has not moved.

There is a situation in your life that has heard every prayer you know how to pray, and it is still sitting there. Unmoved. Like a wall that does not care how loud you shout at it.

And you are wondering, “Lord, what am I doing wrong? Why is this not shifting?”

Can I suggest something to you?

It may not be that you are praying wrong.

It may be that you are praying around the issue instead of into it.

There is a massive difference between the two.

I have seen it over and over in ministry.

Someone comes to me and says, “Pastor Daniel, I have been praying for months. Nothing is happening.”

And when I ask them to tell me exactly what they have been praying, they give me beautiful, general, safe prayers that sound powerful but never touch the nerve of the actual problem.

It is like washing the outside of a cup while the inside is still dirty.

Jesus addressed this directly in Matthew 23:25:

“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.”

The truth is this: there is a prayer sitting in your spirit right now that you have been avoiding.

You know it is there.

The Holy Spirit has brought it to your attention more than once. But you have pushed it aside because praying it means something has to change. Something has to be confronted. Something has to be released.

And that scares you more than the problem itself.

Today, we are going to deal with 17 of those prayers. Not general warfare declarations.

Not “Lord, bless me” prayers.

These are specific, targeted, uncomfortable prayers that most people avoid because praying them costs something.

But I want you to understand this: the breakthrough you have been crying for may be locked behind the very prayer you keep skipping.

………………………………………

Why General Prayers Produce General Results

Look at what Jesus said in Mark 11:24:

“What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”

Notice He said “what things.”

Not “whatever vague feelings.”

Not “a general sense of blessing.”

He said what things.

Specific.

Identifiable.

Nameable.

When Bartimaeus cried out to Jesus in Mark 10, Jesus stopped and asked him a question that might seem strange: “What wilt thou that I should do unto thee?”

Think about that for a moment.

Jesus could see the man was blind. He already knew what Bartimaeus needed. So why did He ask? Because He wanted Bartimaeus to name it. To get specific. To stop crying generally and make a specific request.

And the moment Bartimaeus said, “Lord, that I might receive my sight,”Jesus responded with power.

Your breakthrough may be waiting for you to stop praying around it and finally name the thing.

Now, let us go through these 17 prayers one by one.

I want you to read slowly. Do not rush. Let the Holy Spirit highlight the ones that apply to your situation right now.

………………………………………

1. “LORD, EXPOSE WHAT I CANNOT SEE”

This, for me, is the most powerful key to answered prayer.

Let me tell you why. Sometimes we are stuck, not because it is not God’s will for us to move forward, but because we are missing what God is saying about a specific situation. We are praying one way, and God is speaking another way.

We are asking Him to open a door, and He is saying, “Give thanks, I already opened it.”

We are asking Him to fight a battle, and He is saying, “Forgive that person first.”

We are asking Him to provide, and He is saying, “Take the step I already told you to take.”

There are prayers that God has already answered. All you need to do is give thanks.

There are situations that do not require more prayer. They require a step of obedience.

There are issues that will not move until you forgive someone.

But how will you know which one applies to your situation if you do not ask God to show you what you are not seeing?

Jeremiah 33:3 says,

“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”

God is willing to show you things you do not know. Things hidden from your natural eyes. But you must ask.

Let me share something personal with you.

Last week, I woke up with a song in my spirit. The song says…

“Thank you for fighting my battles for me. Jehovah Imela.”

Imela is an Igbo word, which means “Thank You.”

I did not plan to sing that song.

I did not choose it.

The Holy Spirit dropped it in my heart the moment I opened my eyes.

So I sang it. I sang it all morning. I sang it through the day.

Two days later, a major challenge hit. Something that could have seriously affected our ministry finances and programs. The kind of thing that would normally send you into panic mode, calling people, strategizing, worrying.

But as I was about to worry, that song came back to me. And I knew in my spirit that the Holy Spirit had been preparing me. He gave me the song before the battle because He wanted me to know that the battle was already handled.

So instead of worrying, I kept singing.

Every time the situation crossed my mind, I sang. “Thank you for fighting my battles for me. Jehovah Imela.”

One week later, that issue resolved itself. Naturally. Without the panic. Without the stress. Without me trying to fix it in my own strength.

Do you see what happened?

God was speaking. He was showing me something I could not see with my natural eyes. And because I was sensitive to what He was saying, I did not waste weeks fighting a battle He had already won.

That is what this prayer does. It opens your spiritual eyes so you are not stuck in a valley God has already moved you past, or fighting a battle that only requires a song of thanksgiving.

Pray this:

“Lord, show me what I am not seeing. Open my spiritual eyes. Let me understand what You are saying about this specific situation. Give me clarity so I do not miss Your direction.”

………………………………………

2. THE PRAYER OF SPECIFIC FORGIVENESS

Not “Lord, help me forgive everyone.” That is the safe version. That is the version that makes you feel spiritual without actually doing the work.

I am talking about the prayer where you say the person’s name.

“Lord, I forgive [this person] for [this specific thing they did to me]. I release them from my judgment. I release myself from the prison of this offense.”

That prayer costs something.

It costs you the right to replay the offense.

It costs you the satisfaction of holding it against them.

Some of you have been holding that offense so long it has become part of your identity. You do not even know who you are without the anger anymore.

But Jesus was blunt about this. Matthew 6:15:

“But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

And look at what He said in Mark 11:25: “And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”

Notice the connection.

He is talking about prayer.

He is saying, while you are standing there praying for your breakthrough, if there is unforgiveness in your heart, handle that first. Because unforgiveness does not block the other person. It blocks you. It blocks your prayers. It gives the enemy legal ground to operate in your life.

Say their name. Release them. And watch what God releases for you.

………………………………………

3. THE PRAYER OF REPENTANCE FOR YOUR OWN ROLE

This one is hard to hear, but I would not be a faithful pastor if I did not say it.

Sometimes you are not just the victim in the situation.

Sometimes you contributed to the mess you are asking God to clean up.

Maybe your decision opened the door.

Maybe your words started the conflict.

Maybe your pride escalated what could have been resolved quietly.

Maybe your disobedience led you into the wilderness you are now asking God to deliver you from.

And instead of repenting, you are praying as if the whole thing was an attack on you.

But the Holy Spirit is saying,

“Before I fix this, will you own your part?”

Psalm 139:23-24:

“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

That is one of the most dangerous prayers in the Bible. Dangerous because God will actually answer it. He will show you things about yourself you did not want to see.

But that revelation is not condemnation. It is the doorway to freedom.

Take responsibility. Ask God for wisdom on how to make amends where amends are needed.

Some doors will not open until you close the one your own hands opened.

………………………………………

4. “LORD, REMOVE EVERY PERSON ASSIGNED TO SLOW ME DOWN”

This is a prayer many people are afraid to pray because it might mean losing someone they are emotionally attached to.

But look at what happened with Abraham.

God called Abraham in Genesis 12 and told him to leave his country, his kindred, and his father’s house. But Abraham carried Lot with him.

Lot was his nephew. The relationship was comfortable. But Lot was not part of God’s instruction.

And notice what happened. As long as Lot was with Abraham, there was strife. Their herdsmen were fighting. There was not enough room for both of them. The relationship that Abraham held onto out of loyalty was creating conflict and limitation.

It was not until Genesis 13, after Lot separated from Abraham, that God spoke to Abraham again and said in verse 14-15:

“Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: for all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.”

Do you see that? The expanded vision came after the separation. Not before.

There are people in your life right now who are not bad people. They are not evil. But they are not assigned to the season God is taking you into. And their presence is limiting your capacity, distracting your focus, and slowing your progress.

Pray this prayer. And when God shows you who needs to go, have the courage to obey.

………………………………………

5. “LORD, BREAK EVERY COVENANT I ENTERED IGNORANTLY”

This is serious.

There are covenants you entered that you do not even remember.

Childhood agreements.

Things you said during moments of pain that became spiritual contracts.

Words spoken in anger.

Vows made during sickness.

Promises made to people or to God in desperation that you have long forgotten but that are still active in the spirit realm.

Proverbs 6:2 says:

“Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.”

That word “snared” is important.

A snare is a trap. It holds you in place. And according to this scripture, your own mouth set the trap. Not a witch. Not a demon. Your own words.

Sometimes we made vows during painful moments.

  • “I will never trust anyone again.”
  • “I will never love like that again.”
  • “If God does not answer this prayer, I am done.”

Those words carried weight in the spirit realm, and they are still operating.

Family vows are especially powerful.

If your parents dedicated you to something you did not choose, if cultural rites were performed over you as a child, if agreements were made on your behalf, those things carry spiritual weight until they are deliberately broken.

Numbers 30:2 says,

“If a man vow a vow unto the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.”

Vows bind.

That is their nature.

And a vow that was never broken is a vow that is still binding.

Pray this: “Lord, every covenant I entered knowingly or unknowingly, every word I spoke that became a spiritual contract, every vow made on my behalf that was not from You, I break it now by the blood of Jesus.”

………………………………………

6. “LORD, CLOSE EVERY DOOR I FORCED OPEN”

This is a dangerous prayer.

And I mean that in the best way.

It is dangerous because when God answers it, things you have been managing, protecting, and holding onto will be shut down.

Relationships you opened outside of God’s will.

Business dealings you entered out of greed or desperation.

Doors you forced open because you were tired of waiting for God to open the right one.

Revelation 3:7 says, “These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth.”

God opens doors that no one can shut. But the reverse is also true.

There are doors you opened that God did not authorize. And as long as those doors remain open, the enemy has access. Confusion has access. Delay has access.

You may have avoided this prayer because you are afraid of what you will lose. But what you lose by God’s hand is always less than what you lose by keeping the wrong doors open.

Pray it. Trust Him with what closes.

………………………………………

7. “LORD, DELIVER ME FROM NEEDING HUMAN VALIDATION”

Sometimes you cannot move forward because you are waiting for someone to approve what God already told you to do.

You know what God said. You heard Him clearly. But you have been polling people, asking opinions, waiting for a human being to cosign what the Creator of the universe already authorized.

Galatians 1:10:

“For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.”

Paul understood something that we believers still struggle with.

You cannot serve God and serve people’s opinions at the same time.

At some point, obedience to God will offend someone. And if you are not free from the need for human approval, you will choose their comfort over God’s instruction every single time.

The fear of man is a snare.

Proverbs 29:25 says it plainly:

“The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.”

Pray this prayer. Ask God to deliver you from the addiction to people’s approval so you can walk freely in His purpose.

………………………………………

8. “LORD, REMOVE MY APPETITE FOR WHAT IS DESTROYING ME”

This prayer is not just about food or substance. It goes deeper than that.

There are habits you know are destroying you, but you enjoy them.

Emotional attachments that drain you, but they feel good.

Secret addictions that nobody sees, but they are eating you from the inside.

Patterns of behavior that consistently lead you to the same broken place, but you keep returning because the flesh craves what the spirit rejects.

Romans 8:13:

“For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.”

You cannot fight an appetite with willpower alone. You need divine intervention. You need God to literally remove the desire for the thing that is destroying you. Because as long as the appetite is alive, the temptation has power.

Pray this honestly. Tell God what the appetite is. Name it. Do not dress it up.

………………………………………

9. “LORD, SILENCE EVERY VOICE I HAVE BEEN LISTENING TO THAT IS NOT YOURS”

You are surrounded by voices.

The voice of friends telling you what they think you should do.

The voice of culture telling you what is normal.

The voice of past wounds replaying failure and rejection in your mind.

The voice of social media shaping your desires, your comparisons, your sense of worth.

And somewhere in the middle of all that noise is the voice of God.

Quiet.

Still.

Consistent.

But drowned out by everything else competing for your attention.

John 10:27:

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”

You are His sheep. You have the capacity to hear His voice.

But hearing requires that other voices be silenced.

You cannot tune into heaven while you are broadcasting on the frequency of the world.

Look at what happened with Elijah in 1 Kings 19:11-12.

God was not in the great wind.

He was not in the earthquake.

He was not in the fire.

He was in the still, small voice. The quiet one. The one you would miss if you were not paying attention.

If Elijah had been distracted by the noise of the wind, the earthquake, or the fire, he would have missed God entirely.

That may be happening to you.

God is speaking. But the noise is too loud.

Ask God to mute every voice that is not His. The voice of fear. The voice of doubt. The voice of culture. The voice of toxic counsel.

Let His voice be the loudest thing in your life.

………………………………………

10. “LORD, HEAL MY WOUNDED IDENTITY”

Many of us are living under a name that God did not give us.

Someone called you worthless, and you believed it.

Someone said you would never amount to anything, and it stuck.

Rejection shaped your personality.

Abuse distorted your self-image.

Failure became your identity instead of just an event that happened to you.

And now you are calling yourself what God did not call you. You are living smaller than what He designed because the wound is louder than the Word.

But look at what God did with Gideon. When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon in Judges 6:12, he said,

“The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.”

Gideon was hiding. He was threshing wheat in a winepress because he was afraid of the Midianites.

By every natural measurement, he was not mighty. He was not valorous. He was scared.

But God called him what He created him to be, not what his circumstances made him feel like.

God is doing the same thing with you right now. He is calling you by your real name. Not the name rejection gave you. Not the name failure branded you with. Not the name abuse whispered into your identity.

Pray this: “O Lord, heal my wounded identity. Remove every false name I have been carrying. Restore my true identity in You.”

………………………………

11. “LORD, DISCONNECT ME FROM INHERITED BATTLES”

Not every battle you are fighting started with you.

Some of you are fighting battles that your parents fought. Your grandparents fought.

Patterns of poverty, divorce, addiction, failure, and sickness that have traveled through your bloodline for generations.

Exodus 20:5: “For I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.”

But thank God for Ezekiel 18:20: “The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father.”

Under the new covenant, you have the authority to disconnect from inherited battles. The cycle can end with you. But it will not end by itself. You have to pray with precision and break the chain deliberately.

Name the pattern. Break the cycle. Declare that it ends in your generation.

……………………………….

12. “LORD, DESTROY MY TOLERANCE FOR MEDIOCRITY”

Sometimes we live settled.

Not because God told you this was your portion, but because the fight got too hard and the comfort zone got too comfortable.

You stopped dreaming, stopped believing for more, and adjusted your expectations downward to match your current reality instead of pressing forward to match God’s promise.

But God did not create you for average.

Ephesians 3:20: “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”

If God is able to do exceeding abundantly above what you can ask or think, then settling for less is not humility. It is disobedience.

Pray this: “Lord, push me out of my comfort zone. Destroy my tolerance for mediocrity. Push me into my destiny.”

……………………………….

13. “LORD, UPROOT THE BITTERNESS I PRETEND IS JUSTIFIED”

This one will step on your toes. And I intend it to.

There is bitterness you have justified.

You have built a case for it.

You have evidence.

You have witnesses.

And by every human standard, you have the right to be bitter because what happened to you was genuinely unfair.

But bitterness does not care about your reasons. It destroys you regardless of whether it is justified or not.

Hebrews 12:15: “Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled.”

Notice what the scripture says. Bitterness does not just trouble you. It defiles many.

It spreads, poisons your relationships, your decisions, your prayers, and your capacity to receive from God.

The fact that your anger is justified does not make it harmless.

Let God uproot it. All of it. Even the parts you think you have a right to keep.

…………………………………

14. “LORD, REMOVE EVERY AMBITION IN ME THAT IS NOT PURE”

Not every desire in your heart came from God.

Some ambitions were planted by envy.

You saw what someone else had, and now you want it. Not because God assigned it to you, but because comparison drove you to chase it.

Some ambitions were planted by pride. You want to be seen, to be recognized.

You want the title, the platform, the influence. Not for God’s glory, but for your own.

James 3:16: “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.”

But look at the verse before it, James 3:15:

“This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.”

Some of what we are chasing is not from above. It is earthly and sensual.

And pursuing it leads into confusion and every evil work.

Ask God to purify your ambitions. Let Him remove what He did not plant so that what remains is clean, focused, and aligned with His purpose for your life.

………………………………………

15. “LORD, REMOVE EVERY PATTERN OF STARTING AND NOT FINISHING”

You start things. You start them with excitement, with passion, with conviction. And then somewhere in the middle, the fire dies. The project stalls. The vision fades. The discipline evaporates. And you move on to the next thing, carrying a trail of unfinished assignments behind you.

This is not just a personality flaw. It can be a spiritual pattern.

Galatians 3:3:

“Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?”

Some things you started in the Spirit but tried to sustain in the flesh. And the flesh does not have the endurance to finish what the Spirit began.

You need divine grace to complete what God initiated.

Philippians 1:6 promises, “He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

God finishes what He starts. And He wants to give you the same grace.

But you need to pray for it.

Ask Him to break the pattern of abandonment and give you the discipline and endurance to finish.

……………………………………..

16. “LORD, DELIVER ME FROM EMOTIONAL ATTACHMENTS THAT ARE NOT COVENANTS”

There is a difference between a covenant relationship and an emotional attachment.

A covenant is established by God, confirmed by commitment, and sealed by spiritual authority.

An emotional attachment is a bond formed by need, loneliness, desperation, or the flesh.

And many people are pouring their energy, their time, their prayers, and their future into emotional attachments that God never authorized.

You know the relationship I am talking about. The one you cannot explain why you are still in it, but something keeps pulling you back.

The one that has no future, no spiritual covering, no covenant foundation, but your emotions are tangled in it so deeply that leaving feels like dying.

That is not love. That is bondage.

2 Corinthians 6:14:

“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”

Ask God to sever every emotional attachment that is not a covenant.

Take back the parts of yourself that you gave away outside of God’s design.

It will hurt.

But freedom always costs something.

………………………………….

17. “LORD, TEACH ME TO RECOGNIZE WHEN A SEASON HAS ENDED”

This may be the prayer that changes everything for some of you.

Many of us stay where God has already moved on.

We keep working on a ground that God has already told us to leave.

We keep investing in a season that expired because it is familiar, because it is comfortable, because we are afraid of what the next season looks like.

But God moves in seasons.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”

When a season ends and you refuse to leave, you are not being faithful. You are being stuck.

And being stuck in an old season will cause you to miss the new one that God has already prepared.

Look at what God told the children of Israel in Deuteronomy 1:6: “The LORD our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount.”

You have dwelt long enough.

That job that used to be a blessing but now drains your spirit.

That church that helped you grow but is no longer where God has planted you.

That city, that friendship, that ministry role.

If God has moved on, you need to move with Him.

Pray this: “Lord, give me the discernment to know when a season has ended and the courage to step into the new one. Do not let my comfort keep me stuck in a place You have already left.”

………………………………..

THE RICH YOUNG RULER PRINCIPLE

In Mark 10, a young man came to Jesus and asked what he needed to do to inherit eternal life.

He had kept all the commandments.

He had lived right by every visible standard.

But Jesus looked at him and said, “One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.”

The Bible says the young man went away sad because he had great possessions.

Jesus did not ask him to do ten things. He did not give him a formula.

He asked him to do one thing.

The one thing he did not want to do. And that one thing was the key to everything else.

You have just read 17 prayers.

Maybe all of them apply to you. Maybe only two or three do.

But I believe the Holy Spirit has already highlighted the one that matters most for your situation right now.

That is the one you must pray today.

Not tomorrow.

Not after you think about it for a week.

Today.

…………………………………

PRAY THIS WITH ME

Father, I come to You honestly today. No more praying around the issue. No more safe, general prayers that avoid the real thing.

Lord, I am ready to pray the prayer I have been avoiding. Show me what I cannot see. Give me the courage to forgive by name. Give me the humility to repent for my own role. Give me the strength to release the people, the doors, the attachments, and the seasons that You are telling me to let go of.

Purify my ambitions. Heal my identity. Break every covenant I entered ignorantly. Silence every voice that is not Yours. Remove my appetite for what is destroying me. Deliver me from needing the approval of people more than the approval of God.

I refuse to leave this altar with the one thing still in my hand. I give it all to You. Every part of it. And I trust You with what comes next.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.

……………………………………..

WHAT NEXT?

If this teaching stirred something in you, do not let it pass.

The enemy’s strategy after conviction is distraction. He wants you to read this, feel something, and then scroll to the next thing without actually praying the prayer. Do not give him that victory.

Write down what God showed you.

Pray that specific prayer today.

And if you want to go deeper into breaking stubborn resistance and dealing with situations that have refused to move, I want to invite you to join me for a 3-Day Fast where we will confront demonic blockages, spiritual delays, and long-standing battles together.
