Why Your Marriage Is Under Attack and the Spirit You Cannot See That Is Behind It

Today, I am going specifically into how spirit spouses destroy marriages. Not relationships in general. Marriages. Because the spirit spouse reserves its most violent attacks for the people who made a covenant before God with another human being.

When you got married, you threatened the spirit spouse’s claim on your life. And it has been punishing your marriage ever since.

8 Ways a Spirit Spouse Attacks Your Marriage

1. The Death of Sexual Desire

You used to desire your spouse. Now you feel nothing. Or worse, you feel repulsed. You cannot explain it. Your spouse has not changed. Their body has not changed. But something inside you recoils when they touch you.

Meanwhile, in your dreams, you are having the most intense sexual encounters with someone you have never met. You wake up satisfied from the dream but unable to perform with your spouse. The spirit spouse is draining your sexual energy in the dream and leaving nothing for your earthly partner.

A woman shared: “My husband and I had a wonderful intimate life for the first two years of marriage. Then it stopped. Not gradually. Suddenly. One week we were fine. The next week I could not stand him touching me. I would cry when he came close. There was no trauma. No affair. Nothing happened. But something changed overnight. I later discovered I had been having sexual dreams that I was suppressing from my memory. The spirit husband was taking what belonged to my husband.”

1 Corinthians 7:3-5 says, “Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. Defraud ye not one the other.”

The word “defraud” in Greek is apostereo (ἀποστερέω), meaning “to rob, to steal, to deprive by fraud.” When a spirit spouse kills your desire for your earthly partner, it is committing spiritual robbery. It is stealing what belongs to your spouse and keeping it for itself.

2. Manufacturing Conflict Out of Nothing

You fight about the toothpaste cap. You fight about the way they chew. You fight about who left the light on. Small things become explosions. Conversations become confrontations. Every discussion escalates into a war.

The spirit spouse injects hostility into the atmosphere of your home. It whispers accusations into your ear. It magnifies small offenses until they feel unforgivable. It takes a minor irritation and inflates it into a marriage-ending argument.

James 3:16 says, “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.” The word for “strife” in Greek is eritheia (ἐριθεία), meaning “selfish ambition” or “contention for the sake of contention.” The spirit spouse creates strife not because there is a real issue but because strife itself is the weapon. The more you fight, the wider the gap between you and your spouse. And the wider the gap, the more room the spirit has to operate.

3. Creating Emotional Distance

You live in the same house. You sleep in the same bed. But you feel like strangers. There is a wall between you that neither of you built. You cannot talk to each other without tension. You cannot sit together without discomfort. The intimacy that made you fall in love has been replaced by a cold, heavy silence.

This emotional distance is engineered. The spirit spouse creates a spiritual buffer zone between you and your partner. It is like an invisible force field that prevents your hearts from connecting. You can be physically close but emotionally miles apart.

4. Triggering Infidelity

Some people do not choose infidelity. They are pushed into it. The spirit spouse creates such a void in the marriage that the person becomes vulnerable to outside attention. Then the spirit arranges the encounter. The wrong person shows up at the right time. The attraction feels supernatural because it is. It is a setup.

Proverbs 7:21-23 describes this setup: “With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him. He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks; Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.”

The Hebrew word for “forced” is nadach (נָדַח), meaning “to drive away, to push, to thrust.” She forced him. Not with physical strength. With spiritual manipulation. The man did not walk into the trap. He was pushed.

Many men and women who commit adultery describe feeling like they were “not in control.” Like something was driving them. Like they knew it was wrong but could not stop. That compulsion is not weak willpower. It is a spirit spouse engineering the destruction of the earthly marriage by pushing one partner into the arms of a stranger.

5. Attacking the Womb

Children strengthen marriages. They create bonds that are difficult to break. The spirit spouse knows this. So it attacks the womb.

Miscarriages. Infertility. Complicated pregnancies. Stillbirths. The couple prays and fasts. The doctors find nothing wrong. But the baby does not come. Or the baby comes and does not survive.

In many cases, the woman dreams of being pregnant in the spirit realm. The spirit husband claims the womb as his territory. And any attempt to conceive with the earthly husband is blocked because the spirit considers it a violation of its covenant.

Genesis 20:17-18 records a situation where God closed all the wombs in Abimelech’s household because of an unauthorized claim on Sarah. When the claim was resolved, God opened the wombs. The same principle applies. When the spirit spouse’s unauthorized claim on your womb is broken, the womb opens.

6. Introducing Addiction and Bondage

The spirit spouse weakens your spouse’s resistance to temptation. Suddenly they are drinking more. Watching pornography. Gambling. Staying out late. Behaviors that did not exist before the marriage or that were under control are now spiraling.

The spirit introduces these addictions as replacement intimacies. If your spouse cannot connect with you, they will connect with a substance. If they cannot feel loved by you (because the spirit is blocking the love), they will look for the feeling elsewhere. The addiction is not the disease. It is a symptom of the spirit spouse’s work.

7. Turning In-Laws Into Weapons

The spirit spouse uses people. And the people closest to your marriage are the most effective weapons. A mother-in-law who was supportive before the wedding becomes hostile after. A father-in-law who approved the marriage begins to undermine it. Siblings interfere. Extended family gossips. The people who should be supporting your marriage become agents of its destruction.

These family members are not inherently evil. They are being influenced. The spirit spouse manipulates their emotions and perspectives to create opposition from within the family structure. It is easier to destroy a marriage from the inside than from the outside.

8. Nighttime Attacks on Both Spouses Simultaneously

This is the sign that confirms the spirit spouse is operating at full capacity in your marriage. Both husband and wife begin having sexual dreams with other people. The husband dreams of a beautiful woman. The wife dreams of a handsome man. Both wake up drained. Both lose interest in each other. Both become irritable, distant, and spiritually weak.

The marine kingdom is attacking both flanks simultaneously. While the husband is being drained by a spirit wife, the wife is being drained by a spirit husband. The marriage is being emptied from both sides at once.

7-Day Marriage Deliverance Prayer Program

This prayer program is designed for married couples. Pray together if possible. If your spouse is not yet aware of the spiritual reality, pray alone and cover your spouse in prayer. Anoint yourselves and your bed with oil every night. Pray at midnight every night for 7 consecutive days.

Night 3: Destroy every marine deposit in both bodies. Command every food eaten in dreams, every jewelry received, every sexual fluid deposited to come out by fire. Both spouses pray this over themselves and over each other.

Night 4: Break every ancestral covenant affecting the marriage. Both spouses renounce every dedication, every water covenant, every idol worship in both bloodlines. The marriage is placed under the blood of Jesus alone.

Night 5: Pray for the restoration of love, desire, and intimacy. Command the spirit of cold love to leave. Command desire to return. Command emotional walls to come down. Pray Song of Solomon 8:6-7 over the marriage. Declare: “Our love is strong as death. Many waters cannot quench it.”

Night 6: Neutralize every human agent being used against the marriage. In-laws, friends, colleagues, exes. Separate the person from the demonic assignment. Pray for their salvation. But destroy the spirit using them against your union.

Night 7: Seal the marriage with the blood of Jesus. Anoint each other. Anoint the bed. Anoint the doorpost of your bedroom. Declare Psalm 91 over the marriage. Command angelic protection over the union permanently. Declare: “What God has joined together, let no spirit put asunder.”

Prophetic actions: Anoint your marriage bed with the Oil of Fire every night. Place your wedding rings on the Bible and pray over them. Hold hands while praying. Lay hands on each other’s foreheads. Write your marriage declaration on paper and place it under your pillow. Sow a seed together as a couple into this ministry.

5. I break every spirit of strife, contention, and conflict operating in my home. Peace enters. Communication heals. Patience increases. We speak to each other with love. We listen to each other with respect. In Jesus name.

6. I command every emotional wall between me and my spouse to come down right now. We are not strangers. We are one flesh. The wall is demolished by fire. Our hearts reconnect. Our souls realign. In Jesus name.

7. I break every spirit of infidelity and lust operating against my marriage. No third party enters this union. My eyes see only my spouse. My heart belongs to only my spouse. Temptation has no grip. In Jesus name.

8. I command every curse of barrenness over my marriage to break right now. My womb is blessed. Conception is possible. Pregnancy is safe. Delivery is successful. Children are my heritage. In Jesus name.
